Okay, so now I have a blog I suppose I should post something.
Well yesterday, Jo and I decided to go to
Stockwood Park for afternoon tea and cakes. The park is situated in Luton and it was grandly signposted as a country park. I very much of the opinion that anything the size of a small park situated in the boundaries of a town can not be classed as a country park.
We had tea and cakes (the name of which I have forgotten as I was more concerned with the school boy error that I had committed of choosing the smallest piece of cake at the the self-service cake table for myself and the largest one for Jo. D'oh) then decided to have a wander round the grounds. And we were pleasantly surprised.
It often seems to me that these type of parks promise more than they deliver, but Stockwood Park covered all the bases for a Sunday afternoon walk - as well as some rather pleasant gardens with a focus on recycling and sustainability, there was also a number buildings housing a history of Luton and the surrounding area through the ages (I even learnt what Mesolithic meant) and the Mossman collection of carriages and cars. Through out the collections and display there were plenty of things for kids to touch, play with and climb on. In fact there was enough to occupy a jaded adult like myself for at least another afternoon or two.
I took some photos on my new phone which I'll post when I've extended my web 2.0 adventures to Flickr.
